You may find it helpful to test your preparedness, and that of your students, to use alternate forms of instruction. We suggest that you perform the following:

Send students a welcome email that contains your contact information. Tell students to save this email in a safe place. Maintain a copy for your own records. This ensures that students have your contact information. NOTE: You can use Moodle Announcements to email the entire class.

Download a list of student email addresses for your classes via MyOxy → Acad Info & Advising → Advising tab → Class lists to ensure you have students' contact information. These lists are automatically updated through the semester as students add or drop the course.

Post an assignment in Canvas. This will give you and your students a chance to become familiar with an environment that you may use if classroom instruction must be interrupted.

Use video conferencing to schedule a meeting, phone call, or class activity such as a guest speaker to familiarize yourself with the interface. Include a note in your syllabus with a link to joining a call on a computer or on a mobile device or show students briefly that this is one of the tools you may use as part of the class. This will give you and your students a chance to become familiar with an environment you may use if classroom instruction must be interrupted and Moodle is also unavailable.
