Advising Center Services
The Advising Center offers both in-person and virtual meetings. We are open weekdays (except holidays and breaks). Drop-ins are welcome, but we encourage you to make an appointment in advance when possible. You can also contact us by sending an email (advisingcenter@oxy.edu) or calling during our office hours.
At Occidental, faculty advisors are the primary source of advising and guidance for students as they navigate the academic program. The Advising Center provides additional support for students on routine academic matters, including questions about academic policies and procedures, tracking Core Requirements, placement exams, transferring credit from other institutions, and so on. We also frequently meet with students who are undecided about a major or minor and wish to discuss the various options.
The Advising Center also serves as a good first stop for students who aren't sure which office or faculty member to talk to regarding a specific program or objective.
Making an Appointment
While drop-ins are welcome, we recommend making an appointment in advance to ensure that an advisor will be available to meet with you. Appointments can be either in person or via telephone.
