Area of specialization: Buddhist philosophy.
At Occidental College, Dr. Wright taught courses in the Departments of Religious Studies and Asian Studies on the religious and philosophical traditions of South and East Asia as well as the philosophy of religion. Wright is the author of a number of books, including The Six Perfections: Buddhism and the Cultivation of Character, Philosophical Meditations on Zen Buddhism, Living Skillfully: Buddhist Philosophy of Life, What Is Buddhist Enlightenment? and Buddhism: What Everyone Needs to Know. He is currently co-author of a substack newsletter: Fire Philosophy: Nietzsche, Zen, and How to Live (firephilosophy.substack.com).
