President Stritikus announces the Faculty Connections Dining Program, which will help to build community among students and faculty.
Dear Oxy Community:
Since arriving at Oxy, I’ve been inspired by the collaboration I see between our faculty and students. Recently, in conversations with faculty, they shared an exciting idea to strengthen these connections—by creating opportunities for students and professors to engage beyond the classroom.
I’m excited to announce the new Faculty Connections Dining Program, sponsored by the Office of the President, where students can invite faculty to join them for up to three on-campus meals each semester. By participating in this program, students and faculty can dine, chat, and build community.
Here’s how it works:
- Invite a faculty member to dine at the Marketplace or the Tiger Cooler.
- While paying, notify the cashier that the meal is part of the Faculty Connections Dining Program, so that the faculty meal can be charged to the Office of the President. The cashier will provide a charge form with instructions.
- After the meal, fill out and submit the charge form.
Our academic excellence, built on the work our students and faculty do together in our classrooms, is at the heart of our mission as a college. But one of the best things about belonging to a small campus community is the opportunity to engage with each other not just as scholars and researchers, but as human beings.
I hope that all our students and faculty will participate in this program, which creates space for conversations, provides informal mentorship opportunities, and strengthens our faculty-student connections.
Sincerely,
President Stritikus
