UEP 230 Climate Justice: Theory and Practice students toured oil fields and toxic sites in the Central Valley with assistant professor Mijin Cha.
The tour was organized by the Center on Race, Poverty, and the Environment, which has worked for years with communities in the Central Valley to fight against polluting industries. This area has some of the most polluted air in the country and is also home to the second largest oil field in the country. Students were able to see in person the impact of fossil fuel industries on marginalized communities and put a human face to what they learned in class.
