Timothy’s work and interests lie in the field of operator algebras, which bridges ideas in functional and harmonic analysis, group theory and dynamical systems.

Tim studies the  classification of C*-algebras arising from combinatorial structures and noncommutative dynamical systems. He is interested in the purely infinite/stably finite dichotomy for such algebras as well the C*-Connes embedding question which asks whether every stably finite C*-algebra admits norm-microstates, or equivalently, is embeddable into a field of matrix algebras. The use of dynamical K-theory appears throughout Tim's work.
