Learn the basics of unarmed combat with Rachel Lee Flesher.
This is day 2 of a two-day, six-hour foundations course for stage combat covering the core concepts of safety, story, and style - as defined by the Fight Directors Canada. Participants will learn the fundamentals of unarmed stage combat in a consent forward and trauma informed course designed to arm them with the tools to keep themselves and others safe while practicing scenes with physical violence. Core concepts covered include energy exchange, weight sharing, casting, scales of contact, masking, distance, on line and off line, knapping, The Cue Reaction Action Follow Through technique, and" selling”. Some techniques covered include falling, pushing, pulling, grabbing, slapping, punching, and more (time allowing). This is a fantastic course for any actor, director, or stage combat hoping to add stage combat to their tool kit.
This is a two day workshop for Oxy students - students must attend both days. Space is limited and priority will be given to Theater majors and minors. The workshop is free.
