Yossen invites participants to confront the use of these objects by sculpting personalized ceramic bowls in the shape of their craniums. By personalizing the form of the food receptacle, Yossen hopes to steer participants towards a more intimate perspective, to provoke modified habits and assumptions.

First session (90 min): sculpt clay to create bowls, to be subsequently fired by the artist. Second session (90 min): return to cook a communal Argentine meal, using a traditional empanada recipe from the artist’s hometown of Recreo, Argentina. Meal will be served in the head- shaped (reusable) bowls as a way to celebrate our relationship with food and acknowledge our transformational role in reducing reliance on consumption materials.

Patricia Yossen is a materials-based artist making work that examines contemporary constructs of domesticity and professional life.
