This fall, Occidental’s Department of Theater and Performance Studies presented two mainstage plays. Enjoy photos from each production.
“A Dream Play,” written by August Strindberg in a new version by Caryl Churchill, was performed Nov. 2-5 in Keck Theater. The production was directed by Laural Meade with scenic and lighting design by Xinyuan Li and costume design by Aed McMillan. The play follows a young woman on a madcap journey to see if life is really as difficult as people make it out to be.
“Slanguage,” written by the legendary ensemble Universes, will be performed Nov. 17-19 in Keck Theater. Will Power directed, with scenic and lighting design by Xinyuan Li and costume design by Aed McMillan. This rarely performed hip-hop gem is described as an unprecedented and complete deep dive into the explosive essence of character and language.
