Guest Teaching Observer Program

To participate, faculty should pair up*, discuss what you are looking for in terms of feedback, and each visit each other’s class, and then talk about how it went. The goal is to get honest discussion going, purely for the benefit of the involved faculty. This is open to anyone who is teaching a course this semester, and will not be part of any official evaluation process.

Compensation/incentives: Each faculty member will receive a stipend of $150 and a modest budget of $60 for snacks/food during discussions of teaching before and/or after the class visits. Each faculty member can participate in one pairing per semester.

Process: Submit a brief application that lists the faculty and their specific courses that will be visited. After the visits, submit a brief report with the dates of the visits and a sentence or two about the general topics that you discussed.

Teaching Roundtable

To participate, faculty should form groups of 3-6 people to visit each other's classes, and then talk about how it went. The goal is to get honest discussion going, purely for the benefit of the involved faculty. This is open to anyone who is teaching a course this semester, and will not be part of any official evaluation process.

Compensation/incentives: Each faculty member will receive a stipend and a modest budget for snacks/food during discussions of teaching before and/or after the class visits. Each faculty member can participate in one roundtable per semester.

Process: please reach out to the CTE Director to discuss your ideas, as the budget can scale with the ambitions of the roundtable group.
