Incoming Oxy students,
As we approach the start of the semester, we want to remind you of a few key deadlines that are approaching.
Health Forms and Insurance Waiver/Opt-in
Tuesday, August 1 (one week from today) is the deadline to submit all health forms and to either waive or opt-in to student health insurance. You can access all new student health forms at http://myhealth.oxy.edu. (You will need your myOxy login in order to access the forms.)
To study on campus, students are required to have insurance that covers primary and specialty care services in Los Angeles County. If you do not manually opt-in to the student health plan or submit a waiver with proof of existing health insurance by Tuesday, August 1 , you will be automatically enrolled in the student health plan and the full amount will be billed to your student account. Students who are international citizens are automatically enrolled in this insurance plan at registration on a mandatory basis. More information on health insurance options can be found in the email you received on June 8.
Please allow our medical providers 5-7 business days to process any clearance forms after you submit.
About Clearance
Clearance is a mandated process for students every semester. You are not officially enrolled for the semester until you complete Clearance . Examples of Clearance steps include signing policy agreements from the Dean of Students office, clearing transcript holds with the Office of Admission, submitting missing financial aid documents, and submitting required health forms. Oxy's Student Accounts office will send all students an email in mid-August with more information on the Pre-Clearance process. You will have two weeks to go through the Clearance process before the fall semester begins. A late fee will be billed to your student account should you not complete Clearance by the deadline of August 30 . We advise you to start the semester smoothly by submitting all of your health forms this week, if you have not done so already.
Student Employment Webinar this Thursday
If you intend to obtain an on-campus job, whether it’s work-study or not, you’ll want to tune in to our Student Employment Webinar this Thursday at 4 p.m. PST. You’ll hear from Oxy’s Human Resources department about how to find available positions, the Office of Financial Aid regarding work-study hours, and the Hameetman Career Center, who’ll share resume and interview tips as well as explain the STEP program for eligible first-year students. @oxy.edu Account Activation
If you have not yet activated your @Oxy email account—the time is now! You’ll be needing your Oxy email address to receive essential information from the College and to login to your MyOxy portal. We will soon stop sending these weekly emails to your personal email address (more info on that to come soon).
Submit Photo for I.D. Card
Submit your passport-style photo for your student I.D. to the Card Office by this Saturday, July 29 . After submitting your photo, you will also choose your four-digit room code. Again, doing this now will greatly speed up the check-in process during move-in.
If you’ve already completed most of these items, thank you! If you have not yet submitted your health forms or student i.d. photo—the deadline has not yet passed!
